Hayley

My name is Hayley and I am a Registered Physiotherapist with a special focus in Pelvic Health and Perinatal Care. I began my studies at the University of Toronto in 2012, majoring in Human Biology and Physiology. After my undergraduate, I stayed at the University of Toronto to complete my Master of Science in Physical Therapy.

My journey in Pelvic Health began in the first year of my Masters — I had a strong passion for women’s health and joined the Women’s Health Division (WHD) of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association (CPA). It was during my time there that I was introduced to the field of Pelvic Health. I went on to complete specialized internships in Pelvic Health in both private practice as well as the TAPMI and Breast Cancer clinics at Women’s College Hospital.

I treat females, males, and paediatrics for both pelvic health and general orthopaedic concerns. I have extensive experience working with expecting mothers from conception to birth to help them prepare for labour and delivery, as well as helping them to restore function in their core and pelvic floor muscles after birth.

In addition to Physiotherapy, I have completed my 200-hour Yoga Instructor certification as well as an 85-hour advanced yoga training in Costa Rica. I have traveled to Costa Rica for several retreats since to further develop both my yoga and wellness practice.

My background in yoga and movement has shaped my practice immensely as a Physiotherapist and continues to inform how I treat my clients from a holistic lens. Taking this leap into wellness after the pandemic is what inspired me to build Higher State, fusing both my health and wellness backgrounds, and I am so excited to now be bringing these services to St. John’s.
